Find x:
Use the properties of "similar triangles:"
3 3+x+ 1
------ = --------------
2 2 +x - 1
Then 3(2-1+x) = 2(4+x), or 3 + 3x = 8 +2x.
This yields x = 5. Use a similar approach (similar triangles) to find y.
